Our Swim School Achievers

Megan

2011 Achiever of the Year

"When Megan started swimming lessons with G Ball Swim School, in February 2009, she was too terrified to even put her face under the water. We ourselves could not help her overcome this fear, so we decided to start her in official swimming classes.

In just over 2 years, due to the excellence of the teachers in the school, her confidence in the water is now second to none, and she is currently working towards her Stage 7 Swim Award. Equally importantly, the lessons are FUN. Excellent teachers, who make the lessons fun, a first class combination. We are absolutely delighted with the progress Megan has made, with the help of the G Ball Swim School."

Campbell

Hugh Campbell (Grandfather)

"I Remember the first time I took Erin to swimming lessons, she would have been about 2 years old. We were told to get into the pool and form a ring and hold hands and sing to the music the Grand old Duke of York. When the music played, when they’re down they’re down, we had to put the childrens head under the water. When I did this, Erin sprung up and hit me over the head with a float and shouted don`t you ever do that to me again. From an early age I have always supported and encouraged Erin with her swimming. Erin has continued to improve with the help, guidance and encouragement from the G Ball Swim School Team. Erin has been having swimming lessons under the tuition of Jane, Tanya and James for over 6years. Erin has achieved many badges ,certificates and awards during her swimming years. Swim award Level 10 Swim award 400 mtrs Bronze Speed Award Breaststroke Silver Speed Award Frontcrawl and many others She makes me feel a very proud Grandad."

Connor Surridge

Connor Surridge:
Mother, Lindsey Surridge

"The progress Connor has made over the last couple of months is fantastic. James and Tanya have worked wonders with him. His confidence grows with each lesson and he really enjoys going. We would like to thank you all for helping Connor get over his fear of the water."

Matthew Crook

Matthew Crook:
Mother, Elizabeth Crook:-

Matthew loves being in the water, but he has dyspraxia which means that he has significant problems with his co-ordination and this makes it much harder for him to learn to swim. At his previous swimming lessons we found that we were unable to get them to recognise the difficulties that he was having, to the extent that he was not progressing and was losing confidence.

When Matthew first started with these lessons he initially had one to one lessons with Jane, where he regained his enthusiasm and made such good progress that he was able to join the group lessons. His instructors are brilliant with him, they are positive, encouraging and make the lessons fun. Matthew’s dyspraxia does slow his rate of learning, as he needs to do things many more times than normal in order to master a skill, but the teachers have always been patient with him and go at his pace.

Matthew is now able to swim and is learning the different strokes, his progress is wonderful to see after all his effort and the help given by his teachers. A big thanks to all in the swim school who have worked with him, you are doing a great job!

Bradley WagstaffBradley Wagstaff (Teacher Report from Anne Walker)

When I first met Bradley, he had a great fear of merely being on the poolside close to the water. He was very nervous, even to the extent that his nerves would appear as a constant little cough. Bradley used buoyancy aids for a while, he soon felt comfortable putting his face in the water and blowing bubbles. He removed the arm supports and practiced push and glides, knowing I was always there to support him. The push and glides became further and Bradley began to use his arms to stretch and reach towards me. These few strokes became more and more each time, he is now able to swim a distance of 10 metres completely independently. He has gained so much confidence in himself having realised that his achievement is such that he is quite happy to lead the group lessons by going first.

Bradley is a great pleasure to teach, his attendance has been 100% (well done, thanks to Mum), my moto is to keep trying, don’t give up. I am so very proud to see a shy nervous Bradley change to a Happy confident swimmer, and I feel that this great achievement to him, has opened the door to a great more confidence in other areas of his life.

Sarah Wagstaff (Bradleys Mother)

We would like to thank you and Anne for helping Bradley to gain the confidence to enjoy his swimming lessons. He has gone from a nervous and terrified little boy to one who looks forward to each lesson, what an achievement!! It clearly shows other parents what a great swim school you operate.
